Alrighty, now for the main stuff. I haven't really been active here but have on every other social media. However, as this is a main source of news and updates so I felt the need to say so here too. As I close in on a midterm and about to start a new 8-week class, I'll be moving to a new place soon. I'll still have my $1 sketches open but at a much slower pace and maybe hiatus if things get overwhelming.
So if I don't appear online for a while, don't worry - either I'm studying, sleeping or you messaged me in a platform I'm least likely to answer in or have notifications for (you know who you are!) COLONY FUND
Even if I'm not active on dA much anymore, am getting busy this time around but will be even more so soon. However, I'll need help for something else before that happens. I'm gonna open the sketch commissions again. Unless there's another payment method you would prefer, Paypal will be my most preferred payment method.
The reason why I'm opening commissions again is to help with feeding a cat colony where I live. While there is an older guy providing us with cat food, he hasn't been able to give much away as he doesn't have the income like he used to due to the pandemic. There's also another person that is supposed to feed them but seems like they are not feeding them as they agreed to so I wanted to see if I could feed on those days too. I don't quite earn enough myself to provide that much food so I really depend on this guy for it but by doing this could lighten the burden and even be able to give some back if I can.
GOALS
Feeding, wet food: There are usually between 3 to 6 cats around, but we usually serve strictly 5 bowls of wet food and 5 bowls of dry food at the time of feeding which is only once every night on the weekends at the moment. They readily go straight for the wet food first, so I'll need to raise for that the most to get the bigger cans of Friskies. If I fund enough, I'll aim for to the better no-grain ones.
Feeding, dry food: I'm aiming for at least something like Blue Buffalo since it's a big hit-&-miss with the Friskies brand. A lot of them are older so they don't eat much of the kibble, but when they don't like it this results in the food being untouched for entire weekdays. We gave them some of our kitties' Blue Buffalo after they stopped eating the other dry food entirely and they loved it. But if there are better or cheaper brands similar to this I'd appreciate some suggestions too as Blue Buffalo gets dumb expensive for that many cats.
Bowls: In the attempts to reduce waste using paper plates, I'd rather use these bowls for easier pick up and cleaning. We used to have 5 but 3 got run over as we were trying to lay the bowls under a car in a rainy period of this month. Will also be helpful to have extras as I'll be moving away soon and it will be helpful to get another set for when I come by to replace the old food bowls with already clean ones.
COMMISSION
About: This is usually a traditional pencil sketch on a 3 x 5 inch blank flashcard, as in the past I was always outside traveling more than I was at home. Now that I have better devices, better scanner and so much less travelling, I'll be offering digital and traditional sketches for the same price. Albeit, the traditional will still take a while to load as it is difficult to find good lighting, and scanning only available at work. I will not mail traditional sketches, unless you pay extra to cover the stamp fee.
Pricing: Usually have them for $1 USD for each character I draw. In-game currency, item or art exchanges. I've done these in the past for <=$1 but I'm debating to raise it to $3 or $5 depending on flow of responses to at least get the food bowls, I'm not sure how active people are here anymore or how much people are willing to pay for a traditional vs digital sketch nowadays (as you might already tell).
Details: While the pricing may be the same, there are a few advantages and disadvantages to each medium. I draw much better traditionally but the cards are quite small so depending on the character design, it may or may not fit entirely or not look as detail if they are too tall. As a result, these are mostly bust portraits. Digitally, the canvas will have more room to work with at any size, however it's still a different medium so the resulting sketch may not look as detailed as it would be traditionally, skill wise. Give details before purchasing, after that you are not allowed modifications. What Else is Going On
YOU'RE NOT STREAMING ANYMORE?
I still plan to, but with taking classes, work and now moving, it's been kind of difficult to find the time to do so. I'll probably try this Sunday, but still no guarantee due to homework. The earliest I can start streaming again is at most May or June, it is what I predict that everything will settle down.
WHAT ABOUT MOVING?
My SO and I will be finally moving to a new place, much more spacious and with a kitchen finally! It's "cheap" compared to a lot of places yet still kind of expensive despite pandemic, but it was about time to finally have something more than a kitchenless parking-less studio. We were supposed to move downstairs from where I live currently as it would've spared us from the hassle from moving our stuff and resigning contract again, but the manager gave it away to someone else before closing the deal. Disappointing, but gave me more of a reason to scram somewhere better. While this new place can finally cover for the full basics, I'm really hoping that management and community is genuinely much better than the last couple of years living where I am now.
